XtreamLua Player Released

Who’s still coding PSP homebrew in Lua? FlavR is … in fact FlavR recently released a whole new Lua player: XtreamLua Player, or XLP for short. Geecko actually sent word because XtreamLua Player utilizes gLib2D, which we told you about in the past.

6.35 TN Delayed; 6.20 TN to be Released

Wololo has the inside scoop on Total_Noob and his impending HEN release. Two scoops… 1) HEN for 6.35 is delayed; Sony has made some major kernel changes from 6.20 and adapting HEN to those changes have proven to take longer than anticipated. And 2) HEN for 6.20 will be released first since it’s nearly completed, that’ll likely utilize the Patapon 2 exploit and HBL. So all-in-all we can expect 6.20 HEN soon and 6.35 will follow, which may or may not happen before Christmas.

Prometheus-4 for CFW 5.00 M33 / 5.03 GEN / 5.50 GEN Released

Liquidzigong shared this little tidbit and shortly after — BOOM! — Prometheus-4 for 5.03 and 5.50 is released. This version is said to support Monster Hunter Portable 3rd, and of course plenty of other 6.20+ required titles. Extract the RAR archive, copy the Prometheus directory to PSP/GAME and run it from the XMB.

In related news I’d like to bid farewell to Liquidzigong who has decided to leave the scene. Thanks for the hacks! We at Dashhacks wish you the best. Take care.

gpSP Tweaked for Performance with HBL

Developer frillybob emailed this in yesterday — it’s a tweaked out version of gpSP for all you that are using Half Byte Loader. If ya don’t know, gpSP emulates the Game Boy Advance. What’s new in this version? Primarily tweaks to improve your overall GBA+HBL experience. Tweaks like:

Speed boost for 6.20/6.30/6.31 usersPRX in place for when TN-HEN gets released (not done of course)Less crashes with saving games (specifically Mario Party Advance, that’s what made me code this better for HBL)Added special HBL font (not in use, going to be later)

Thanks frillybob!

PCSP v0.4.0 Released: PSP Emulator for Windows

All new: PCSP v0.4.0 with the udb front end, which is now at v0.5.0. What’s good? PCSP v0.4.0 introduces a new save system that is said to be compatible with many games, and we’re also graced with OSK keyboard, message dialogue and preliminary sound support.

PCSP Screenshot

A couple notes however… This version also implements a new “vsync limiter” which aids in limiting the FPS to 60. But we won’t get into that… With vsync limiter enabled some games that worked with earlier PCSP releases may freeze with this one. If that’s the case try disabling the vsync limiter. You can help out by following the source link and leaving your experience where appropriate.

Wait? What is this?

PCSP is written in C++ and attempts to emulate the PSP hardware on Windows. Many are involved with the project and more can be found via the source link below or here at the Google Code project page.

PCSP v0.4.0 Changes:

Wololo mentions JJS has fixed an issue with gpSP (the Game Boy Advance emulator) returning to the HBL menu. Also, anyone with the non-greatest hits version of Hot Shots golf, you too can now participate in the homebrew fun, not to mention 6.20 TN-A when it arrives. Use the “hbl-r109-hotshotsalt-wololo.zip” archive in the Hot Shots Golf download. Otherwise download the version that applies to your situation and enjoy.

Monster Hunter Portable 3rd to Ship with PSP Firmware 6.36?

Seems so according to a Japanese source over at pspslimhacks… It’s reported that said firmware — PSP Firmware 6.36 — is secured so tight that plugins like Prometheus or Torky’s will not work, which means any games requiring 6.36 you’re shit out of luck. That’s of course until someone cracks the new keys, which probably won’t take all that long. Or wait… Has Sony introduced some crazy new method in shutting us down? Nothing that couldn’t be hacked I’m sure… I think the real question is: Does 6.36 patch TN’s kernel exploit? 6.35 doesn’t. But it seems too soon for that seeing as Monster Hunter Portable 3rd ships December 1st. What do you think?

psp firmware: TN HEN Will be Released for PSP Firmware 6.35

TN HEN Will be Released for PSP Firmware 6.35

Yeah, yeah… I know it was scheduled for a November release, but when Sony out of left field released PSP firmware 6.35 that changed things a wee bit. Total_Noob was blindsided and now, seeing as 6.35 doesn’t patch the kernel exploit, Total_Noob is porting his hack to that firmware. But now you’re probably thinking, “hey … 6.35 patches the HBL exploit, how are we going to activate Total_Noob’s HEN without it?” Well Total_Noob is said to have more hacks in his backpack. Open a random compartment and what do ya know — it’s another VSH user mode exploit. From user mode to kernel mode we’ll be homebrew enabled to the fullest!

Wololo contacted TN concerning all this and TN simply replied with: “I’ll release HEN for 6.35 with VSH Exploit” Make sense. There is no set date however.

In the end this is good news for people who’ve updated to 6.35 already. And it’s pretty cool if you think about it — you’ll get all the latest firmware features, including Music Unlimited, and hacks, homebrew and plugins!

Oh and before anyone claims TN to be a fake or something silly like that, remember Wololo confirmed 6.20 HEN to be legit. That said it might be wise to keep active on firmware 6.20 until TN does deliver the goods.
